Some days remind us just how good people can be. The Papplewick School Charity Walk 2026 was one of those days.
Before the walk, a visit was made to Papplewick School in Ascot to talk to the boys about kindness. A Chemogiftbag was brought along, and the purpose of the charity was explained—why it was set up, what it provides, and how small acts of kindness can make a lasting impact. As the talk concluded, several boys came forward, offering handshakes—simple gestures that carried so much meaning. A photograph was taken of the Head Boy holding a Chemogiftbag in the school grounds, capturing a moment of pride.
On April 26th, 2026, the annual charity walk took place at Windsor Great Park. Boys, teachers, parents, and families donned their bright pink Chemogiftbags T-shirts and set off on an approx 8½-mile walk through the park. Alongside them were teachers, parents, families, friends, and even family dogs, all walking together in support of Chemogiftbags.
It was a glorious spring day. Our gazebo was set up for the charity, where lunch was provided, and supporters gathered throughout the day. The atmosphere was warm, and the sense of community was palpable.
The generosity was astounding. In total, the Papplewick community raised:
* £13,188 through sponsorship
* £2,821.22 in Gift Aid
* Additional cash donations that brought the total to over £16,000
Every pound raised will help Chemogiftbags continue providing thoughtful gift bags to those undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer, reminding them that someone is thinking of them during an incredibly difficult time.
After such an extraordinary day, it was felt that a simple thank you from a distance wasn’t enough. So, on Saturday, 27th June 2026, a visit back to Papplewick was arranged. The boys were gathered once more, and a heartfelt talk was given to express gratitude for their incredible effort. Many boys wrote in our Thinking Of You cards and were, personalised with their name, so recipients will see how the boys were sending their best wishes.
The morning was full of song, as the boys sang four hymns, with staff and families joining in. The new head, Mrs. Nina Kingsmill was met, along with staff. and Mr Bunbury. It was a special occasion, filled with warmth and connection. As the boys prepare to move on to new schools, they will carry with them the knowledge that kindness truly matters, and that even the smallest acts can make the biggest difference. Chemogiftbags wishes all the boys the very best in their next chapters and hopes to stay connected with this remarkable school family. Each step taken that day was a step toward a brighter future—one rooted in compassion, one that will never be forgotten.
